The allocation of Rs. 48,000 crore in Union Budget 2022-23 for construction of additional 80 lakh housing units under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) across India is expected to give a boost to the plan of constructing 5,000 more units in Lucknow

According to the State Urban Development Agency (SUDA), a total of 8 lakh housing units are expected to come up in Uttar Pradesh in the next couple of years. Of those, about 5,000 units of PMAY houses will come up in Lucknow

In this regard, Lucknow Development Authority, government body responsible for construction of housing units under PMAY in the city, has identified vacant land in Aishbagh area for 2,000 housing units

A survey of the land in Aishbagh is being conducted by a private agency which will submit the detailed project report soon. Thereafter tenders will be floated to hire construction agencies to carry out the work,” said LDA executive engineer Pratap Shankar Mishra

LDA has identified land on University Road where it is planning to develop the remaining 3,000 units under PMAY

the authority is constructing around 4,512 units under PMAY in its Shardanagar and Vasantkunj schemes. Each unit will cost around Rs. 6.5 lakh. Of that, Rs. 2.5 lakh will be paid by the state government, while the rest is to be paid by the beneficiary in installments in 18 months after getting possession of the house
